Survival rate really depends on when it was diagnosed. It usually has no symptoms whatsoever until it's spread beyond the pancreas and by then, it's too late. The treatment is mainly tons of chemo and controlling the spread. If it's caught early by chance, then surgery is probably the best option. Patrick Swayze has done remarkably well and he's lived over a year now. He even has a new series coming out on a&e that I can't wait to see. I saw the Barbara Walters special with him and his wife of over 30 years and I cried through the whole show.
It's a horrible disease and less than 5% live to 5 years.
