You can check with your local chapter of the American Cancer Society, but there is not really a big push for this as we have very good screening for this cancer and now many HPV vaccine commercials.

Actually, awareness went up once the gardisil vaccine was introduced. However, it may be possible that the reason cervical cancer is not as "pushed" in the media is because there is a lower rate of cervical cancer instances..or at least it is assumed women have access to pap smears here as compared to other countires such as Africa and or India where the instance of contracting the HPV virus? cervical cncer is much much higher.
But, at least there is a litle more awareness compared to 3 years ago..before gardisil began campaigning their vaccines.

Most instances of cervical cancer ( if not all) are as a result of contracting the HPV virus. ( which is a sexually transmitted disease) Perhaps many women feel embarrassed to talk about it? I hope not…

My best friend died this past August…she had cervical cancer. She also did not go with great frequency to her Gyno for a pap smear. It actually wasn't until she became sick…that I even knew what HPV was and that it caused cervical cancer. In fact, I wasn't even really sure…what a pap smear was for until…well…untill she became sick.
